Enough with Manny’s shower

I can’t believe that people are STILL TALKING about Manny Ramirez in the shower.

The Dodgers didn’t lose Game 4 of the NLCS because Ramirez was trying to feel Zestfully Clean.

They lost because Jonathan Broxton lost control and walked Matt Stairs and hit Carlos Ruiz.

If Jonathan Broxton got Jimmy Rollins to ground out, Manny’s shower would be a funny footnote.

Now people are talking about the shower as if it was the point where the Dodgers lost the series?

I thought it had more to do with Clayton Kershaw not being able to make it out of the 5th inning of game 1… and Hideki Kuroda letting up 6 runs in fewer than 2 innings of game 2… and Vincente Padilla being knocked out after 3 innings…

When 3 of 4 starts barely COMBINE for 9 innings, it is tough to win.

When the pitching staff’s collective ERA is 7.38, it’s tough to win.

Maybe if Casey Blake hits higher than .105 or Rafael Furcal scores a single run the Dodgers would still be playing.

But they didn’t lose because Manny wasn’t cheerleading.

Look, he took a shower. He has more hair than anyone on the team… it takes longer to clean.

My son is the last hope for the Angels

I admit that things look bleak for the Angels and frankly for any hope for a World Series in Southern California.

But one things is looking up for the Angels and it happened in Philadelphia last night.

The Phillies won the National League Pennant.

Ergo my son Aidan is now FIVE FOR FIVE in his post season predictions!

He said the Yankees would beat the Twins.
He said the Angels would beat the Red Sox.
He said the Dodgers would beat the Cardinals.
He said the Phillies would beat the Rockies.
And then he said the Phillies would beat the Dodgers.

It’s all lining up! And he also said the Angels would beat the Yankees.

Folks, don’t look at pitching match ups and don’t worry about the 3-1 Yankee series lead.

AIDAN PICKED THE ANGELS!
That’s all you need to know!

The Angels have it in the bag!!!!!

Hey… did anyone else notice the Phillies have a chance to repeat?

Will ANYONE give the Phillies any respect?

Heck, 24 ESPN experts gave their post season picks and NOT ONE had the Phillies repeating. Howard Bryant, Jerry Crasnick, Eric Karabell, Keith Law, Eric Neel and Gene Wojciechowski (I think I got that right) picked the Phillies to win the pennant… but repeating? Nahhh.

Of that group, only Steve Phillips picked a team other than the Yankees or Red Sox in the World Series. He picked the Angels and no doubt whispered that into the ear of a 22 year old assistant, but I digress.

People are already talking as if the Yankees World Series title is a forgone conclusion even though they still need to beat the Angels one more time.

And the Phillies are an afterthought.

Aren’t they the defending World Champs? Didn’t they take down a hot Colorado team and a Los Angeles team with the best record in the National League, going 7-2 in the process?

And basically if they are counted out, wouldn’t that mean the Defending World Champions would be playing with no pressure?

I’m sure that’s EXACTLY the situation they want.
