Wait! The Padres have won 8 in a row? REALLY?

I literally had no idea until I checked Yahoo Sports and saw that they won #8 today against Cincinnati.

I knew they won a few games recently, mainly because they beat the Giants in some heart breakers. One of them resulted in an e mail from my dad that had the subject headline “I’m going to kill myself.”

But I had no idea they ran off more than a week of wins.

The Padres? One of only 4 teams I gave no shot to in my season preview?

Now of course the Padres could very easily rattle off 8 losses in a row as well.

Chances are I’ll miss that too!

My insanely cool boss, Bonnie Hunt, and my fantastic executive producer, Daniel Kellison, gave me the chance to do stand up comedy on The Bonnie Hunt Show.

It was a very cool and almost surreal experience.

I’ve produced so many segments on the show, but to actually perform and be one of the guests was an out of body experience.

And it is one thing to do one of my appearances on ESPN2 or HBO Sports… but doing my stand up for a television audience was a whole other bag of wax.

Here is my stand up set.

And here I am chatting with Bonnie.

I tried to talk about Home Grown vs Acquired Rosters on the show, but it would have probably been edited out.

Thanks in public, Bonnie, Daniel, Brina, Don, Mya and everyone at work for being supportive of me.

Now back to baseball.

That was more stressful than a win against Baltimore should be!

Seriously… the Orioles have only two more wins than the Seattle Pilots this year. And the Pilots haven’t existed since 1969.

Games against the Orioles should be tied in the 8th… but they should end as a W, which in the end is all that matters.

April 4 – 9-7 win against Yankees (On Opening Night, the Red Sox overcome a 5-1 Yankee lead with a game tying HR by Pedroia and a go ahead passed ball.)

April 10 – 8-3 win against Kansas City (Beckett out pitches Zack Greinke and nearly gets decapitated by a line drive.)

April 14 – 6-3 win in Minnesota. (Okajima gets Morneau to pop up with the bases loaded in the 7th and Papelbon wiggled out of a 9th inning jam.)

April 20 – 7-6 win against Texas. (Darnell McDonald introduces himself to Boston with an 8th inning game tying homer and a walk off hit in the 9th.)

April 21 – 8-7 win against Texas. (The Red Sox were down 4-0 early only to win it on Youk’s 2 out 11th inning double.)

April 23 – 4-3 win against Baltimore. (The Sox blow a 3-0 lead but win it on Adrian Beltre’s bases loaded walk.)

April 6 – 6-4 loss against the Yankees. (Scutaro’s error leads to the winning run.)

April 7 – 3-1 loss against the Yankees. (Sox leave the winning run on in the 9th only to lose on Granderson’s 10th inning homer)

April 9 – 4-3 loss in Kansas City. (Bard coughs up the lead, denying Wakefield a win.)

April 17 – 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay. (The Sox can’t score with the bases loaded and nobody out in the 11th… lost it in the 12th.)

April 17 – 6-5 loss to Tampa Bay. (The Red Sox comeback falls a run short, leaving two on in the 8th)
All the way to plus 1.

Is it too much to ask for a stress free ballgame tomorrow?
