IF THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TODAY… September 24, 2010

It’s getting late and tight.
1 game in the loss column separate the Twins, Yankees and Rays… but they are all getting in.

Atlanta, Cincinnati, San Diego and San Francisco are all tied in the loss column… and while the Reds are safe, the Braves, Padres and Giants are fighting for 2 spots.

Let’s see what the match ups are.

AMERICAN LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES

MINNESOTA TWINS (AL Central Champion)
has home field advantage over
TAMPA BAY RAYS (AL Wild Card)

NEW YORK YANKEES (AL East Champion)
has home field advantage over
TEXAS RANGERS (AL West Champion)

NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (NL East Champion)
has home field advantage over
CINCINNATI REDS (NL Central Champion)

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
(NL West Champion)
has home field advantage over
ATLANTA BRAVES (NL Wild Card)

Maybe the Giants can put the Rockies away for good this weekend… maybe the Rays or Yankees cold get some space… maybe the Rangers and Reds can get closer to clinching.

Chances are this won’t be any clearer tomorrow.

A funny thing happened on the Twins off day

The Twins didn’t play on Thursday and they are still buzzing from their Division Title clinching.

But guess what?
With the Yankees losing, New York dropped to 92-61.
The idle Twins have a record of 92-60.

In the loss column, they are ahead.

Can you say it with me?
As I type this, the Minnesota Twins are THE BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL.

Just something for Twin fans to savor as they eat their Corn Flakes.

IN HONOR OF JOHNNY LeMASTER…

The man drafted #6 over all in 1973 (waaaay ahead of Fred Lynn and Eddie Murray)…
The man whose fielding was so dreadful that it became legendary…
The man who tried to defuse the hostile fans by wearing the name “BOO” on his uniform…
The man who basically personified the frustrating late 1970s of the Giants…

THE MAGIC NUMBER IS 10!
