I don’t understand. What is this "Red Sox win" you speak of

The Red Sox were losing in the 9th. And then they scored some runs and weren’t losing. And somehow the Blue Jays DIDN’T score more runs in the 9th.

Then the game ended.
And the Red Sox had more runs. And the Red Sox shook hands afterwards. And almost looked happy.

It is so confusing.
It is like the time space continuum has been ripped.

I realize that I didn’t even update the Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally after the Tigers massacre on Sunday. Three games in, I was already thinking “Oh man, why bother?” But here we are with a Dodged Bullet win.

So I guess I SHOULD update it. Until they get eliminated I guess.

DODGED BULLET GAMES -1

April 9 – 4-2 win in Toronto. (A day after blowing leads in the 9th and 11th, the Sox win their first game of the year with a 3 run 9th inning rally capped off by Ryan Sweeney’s 2 out go ahead RBI single)

TEETH GRINDER GAMES -2

April 5 – 3-2 loss in Detroit. (The Red Sox rally to tie the season opener with 2 outs in the 9th only to lose on a bases loaded walk off single by Austin Jackson.)
April 8 – 13-12 loss in Detroit. (The Red Sox bullpen surrender a 3 run game tying homer in the 9th to Cabrera and Avila smacked a 2 run, 2 out walk off come from behind homer to win it in as brutal a loss as you will ever see.

-1.
Hey, the Sox are going to win some and lose some.

I still don’t think they’ll be playing in October.
BUT at least now they won’t go 0-162!

Barry Zito… worth every penny

Of COURSE it would be Barry Zito who threw the first complete game shutout of the season.
Of COURSE it would be Barry Zito who got the Giants first win, NOT Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain or Madison Bumgarner.
Of COURSE it would be Zito’s first shutout since 2003.
Of COURSE it would be in Coors Field!
It ALL makes sense.

He wanted the first five years to be shaky to catch us all off guard and kick butt the final 2 seasons.

That’s great news for the Giants.
But it would make THIS video instantly obsolete.

It’s good to be a Met fan now

Yeah it is early.
But a 4-0 start is better than most teams. Hell, you can’t ask for better.

At the moment the Mets are better than the Yankees, Red Sox and Phillies.
At the moment the Mets are playing exciting baseball and are fun. At the moment the Mets are getting contributions from Jonathon Niese, Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy and the immortal Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

And guess what?
There have been years when an unexpected team got off to a good start.
The 2008 Rays, after YEARS of never avoiding a 90 loss season, got off to a winning start.

And EVERYONE on the planet said “Oh that’s nice. But it is early. And they are in a Division with the Yankees and World Champion Red Sox. They won’t last.”

Or the Tigers after YEARS of irrelevance got off to a hot start in 2006. “It won’t last. Besides they are in a Division with the talented Twins and the defending World Champion White Sox.”

Guess what?
Both teams made it all the way to the World Series.

Will the Mets do that?
Probably not.

But these are 4 wins they won’t have to make up for later!
