What a way for a miserable season for the Marlins to end. A no hitter was thrown by Henderson Alvarez, one of the prospects acquired in the once malligned blockbuster with Toronto.
And what an ending. I don’t have the facts in front of me, but I am guessing that this is the first no hitter to end on a wild pitch with the winning pitcher on the On Deck Circle.
So another season comes and goes and a bunch of near miss no hitters have piled up.
Let’s update the list for the last time of the year.

Lots of new names and unlikely faces. One this is consistent: None of them are Padres.
2014 will be a new year, San Diego. Maybe that will be the year of your first no-no.
(Wouldn’t mind a Washington Nationals no hitter either for that matter.)
