Today is Game 6.
Those two words, Game and 6, next to each other can bring back so many powerful and sometimes conflicting emotions for Red Sox fans.
Game 6 can mean Carlton Fisk ending the greatest World Series game of all time and bringing the Red Sox to the brink of a 1975 title. They would fall just short.
Game 6 can mean 1986 and the team that so close and let it slip away. And the game which unfairly tapped Bill Buckner as a loser.
Game 6 can also mean the night that A-Rod slapped the ball and Curt Schilling’s ankle bled and the Red Sox tied the Yankees in their greatest moment ever.
Maybe now it will mean a special night where the Red Sox win it all in front of their fans.
Or a heart breaking loss sends it to the finale.
Some player is waking up today not knowing that they will be immortalized for positive or negative reasons.
Will this be the greatest Game 6 of all?
Let’s play ball.
