Wins are wins no matter how slim

The Red Sox, Giants and A’s combined for 4 games today.

Three were 1 run games. The other was a 2 run game. Now take run differential and all the other stats aside, all that matters in the long run is having one more run than the other team. And that teeny tiny difference was what made two of the games dodged bullets and the other two teeth grinders.

Time to update the Dodged Bullet – Teeth Grinder Tally.

An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.

A’S DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally

The A’s rallied against Felix Hernandez but couldn’t hold the lead. An odd play with 2 outs in the 10th put the Mariners on top for good, 6-4. TEETH GRINDER.

Two runs were all the A’s would get and need as Pomeranz and the bullpen led by Jim Johnson shut the door against Seattle, 2-0. DODGED BULLET

A’s and Red Sox have the night off.

Giants hope to put some more distance between themselves and the Dodgers. No pressure.

There was a conflict between podcasters and MLB and Apple today. You can be sure I have a few thoughts on the matter.

That is the topic of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Henderson Alvarez, Carlos Gonzalez, Grady Sizemore, Hiroki Kuroda, Cody Asche, George Springer, Tim Hudson and C. J. Wilson all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball.

I quote an article by Craig Calcaterra in the podcast.

Replay Taketh Away

Well, the idea of replay is to get the call right, right?

So last night’s Giants/Pirates game had a bizarre ending. We all THOUGHT it was going to the 10th, but instead it was won in the 9th after the folks in New York said “Nope you blew the call.”

The decision was right. Doesn’t mean teeth weren’t ground in the Giants clubhouse.

Meanwhile the Red Sox don’t let one slip away and the A’s bats can’t wake up.
