When a team is held to a single hit, that is usually a bad thing. Usually that means that they were dominated. Most times it means that you tip your hat to the other pitcher, who cringes at how close they were to a no hitter.
The A’s are not most teams. They took a 2-0 lead on the Rays without a hit. Got a Moss homer to make it 3-0 and held on for the ride.
How the Rays did NOT score in the 8th inning to tie it is something I will never understand. But Sean Doolittle tied up the game with a nice bow and said “Thank you very much” and the A’s became the first team to 30 wins.
Meanwhile the Giants won and got 20% of their pitching staff injured in the process and the Red Sox may never win another game ever.
Let’s get to the updated Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally.
An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.
