The Red Sox looked like the winning streak was going to end.
The Giants looked like they were going to drop one to the Cardinals, no shame.
Then the Braves, especially the family Upton, threw the ball all over creation and overran grounders.
The Cardinals threw balls away and allowed runs to score.
Next thing you know the Red Sox walked off winners and Sergio Romo wiggled out of trouble to keep the Giants away from 20 losses.
If the A’s tied the game against Joe Nathan, it would have been a perfect day.
Let’s get to the updated Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally.
An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.

GIANTS DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
A three run 8th highlighted by a throwing error to the plate and Michae Morse’s bat turned a Cardinal lead into a 6-5 Giants win. DODGED BULLET
26 Dodged Bullets 14 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: + 12

A’S DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
The A’s stranded 14 runners and batted 2 for 14 with runners in scoring position. Joe Nathan all but begged the A’s to take the lead in the 9th but they fell a run short to the Tigers, 5-4. TEETH GRINDER
18 Dodged Bullets 20 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: -2

RED SOX DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Jake Peavy’s pitching looked like it was going to be wasted by a Sox lineup that couldn’t score. But 3 Atlanta errors turned the game around including the walk off play in the 9th as Boston won 4-3. DODGED BULLET
17 Dodged Bullets 20 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: -3
Red Sox and Giants should feel lucky. But guess what? Wins are wins. They don’t count for less if they were handed to you.
