It had been so long since we’ve seen Clay Buchholz win a game that I had forgotten how to even react.
A Buchholz start this year was just a “put it in the books loss”. And tonight he pitched into the 8th and kept a red hot Seattle Mariners team on the heels. Granted, it got too close for everyone’s taste and Koji didn’t exactly look dominant, which makes me nervous.
But if post injury Clay is effective, then who knows? That might be better than making a trade!
Time to update the Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally.
An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.
GIANTS DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Sure Tim Lincecum threw a no hitter. But for a chunk of the game it was 2-0 and EVERYONE could see him having the one bad inning that let the Padres take the lead. Fortunately for the Giants and San Francisco’s psyche, that never happened and he completed the no hitter, 4-0. DODGED BULLET

RED SOX DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Ortiz homered and Buchholz pitched well for the first time in months. Of course it came down to the final pitch, but the Red Sox held on against Seattle, 5-4. DODGED BULLET
26 Dodged Bullets 31 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: -5
Of the three teams I’m tracking, only the Giants play tomorrow. Let’s see if Vogelsong can toss a no hitter. No pressure, Ryan!
