For more than 1/2 the season, Jeff Samardzija (I think that is the spelling) pitched well enough to make the All Star team as a member of the Chicago Cubs.
He has 18 starts in 2014. 17 with the Cubs. 1 with the A’s.
So roughly 6% of his starts are as a member of the Oakland Athletics.
And yet 33% of his wins are in an A’s uniform.
2-7 with a terrific ERA with the Cubs.
1-0 with the A’s. THIS is what run support looks like. Sure the O.co isn’t the friendly confines of Wrigley. Sure the Ivy has been replaced with raw sewage.
But there is also a chance to win a World Series there. Wrigley? Not so much.
Meanwhile the last team to win a World Series, the Red Sox, finds new ways to enrage me and the Giants might have their ace back.
Time to update the Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally.
An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.
A’S DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Jeff Samardzija won his first game with the A’s with 3 hits and a pair of RBIs from the two catcher, Jaso and Norris, finishing the Blue Jays 4-2.. DODGED BULLET
35 Dodged Bullets 26 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: +9
GIANTS DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Tim Linecum and Jesse Hahn pitched a tight duel before Belt and Sanchez gave the Giants a cushion. The Padres smacked around Romo but the Giants held on to a 5-3 win. DODGED BULLET
35 Dodged Bullets 28 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: + 7
RED SOX DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
The Orioles took a 6-1 lead but the Red Sox put together a 5 run 7th to tie the game. But poor base running and another awful Mujica performance gave the Orioles a 7-6 win in the 12th. TEETH GRINDER
29 Dodged Bullets 36 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: -7
