I have repeated the sentence “we didn’t expect the Red Sox to win the World Series last year, so I can’t complain” so often that you would think it was my mantra.
And during Red Sox games this year, if you did a shot every time I muttered “Oh for Christ sake”, you would get HAMMERED!
With Jake Peavy on the trade block and about to become a St. Louis Cardinal or Atlanta Brave, the team is throwing in the towel.
And nights like tonight show that it can not come fast enough. Every time the Red Sox looked like they were about to rally, they’d leave men on base and cough up more runs.
The final tonight was 8-3 Chicago. It was closer than the score would indicate (they tacked on 3 in the 9th) but was it?
Meanwhile the A’s are making Giants HOPE they aren’t watching a World Series preview.
Time to update the Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally.
An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.
A’S DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
The A’s jumped out toan early 4-0 lead but couldn’t put it away until a 2 run 8th as Sonny Gray out pitched Madison Bumgarner and the Giants, 6-1. DODGED BULLET
36 Dodged Bullets 26 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: +10
GIANTS DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
The Giants could not put together a rally against Sonny Gray, wasting a fine Bumgarner performance and let the A’s pile on in the 8th to win 6-1. TEETH GRINDER.
35 Dodged Bullets 29 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: + 6
RED SOX DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
A three run rally tied the game in the 5th, but the Red Sox could never take the lead as they dropped the game to Chicago, 8-3. TEETH GRINDER
29 Dodged Bullets 37 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: -8
Does it even make sense to keep the Red Sox tally going at this point? Is it an act of masochism?
