The Red Sox and Yankees played each other last night… kind of.
My friend, the great comic Erin Foley said it best in a tweet.
Lots of new faces for the Red Sox. Anthony Ranaudo won his debut. Mookie Betts made a game saving catch. Christian Vazquez made an appearance. Brock Holt was in left and right.
For the Yankees shortstop Stephen Drew was at second for the first time in his professional career. Chris Capuano, a Red Sox for a minute, was starting. Chase Headley made his rivalry debut.
It was all very confusing.
In the end some old friends for the Red Sox stepped up. Ortiz, Pedroia and Uehara did THEIR jobs and the Red Sox, looking forward to 2015 and sinking the Yankees hopes, walked away winners.
We root for laundry. Ergo the Sox won, even if the people wearing the unis were kind of new.
