Bill Boyce – AP
If you have to change teams and make your first start for a team, I supposed starting in your old ballpark is a nice way to ease into a new situation.
Joe Kelly, one of the keys of the John Lackey deal, made his Red Sox debut in St. Louis and had an outing worthy of Lackey, Peavy or Lester for that matter. I would feel good with 7 innings, 3 hits, 1 run from any pitcher. Of course it wasn’t enough to get the WIN. But thanks to Xander Bogaerts’s 2 RBI, it was a win for the Red Sox.
Hey look! Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz, Mike Napoli, Daniel Nava, Xander Bogaerts, Will Middlebrooks, Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara all helped beat the Cardinals in St. Louis?
2013 doesn’t seem that long ago!

That other pitcher from the 2013 World Series, Jon Lester, gets a start today in Oakland. Let’s see if he can top Joe Kelly!
