The baseball strike was going on 20 years ago. I look back at 1994, what could have been, what good it did and a few strange consequences that the chain reaction of the strike caused.

Mat Latos was dealing. The Red Sox bats were dead and off the board until the 7th. With 2 outs in the 8th inning, Reds up 2-1 and a runner on base, Jonathan Broxton threw a pitch up and in on Yoenis Cespedes.
It was a brush back pitch, trying to get him on his heels.
Cespedes came up with the best solution: Park a go ahead homer into center field and make a loser out of the Reds, pushing them 2 1/2 games out of a playoff spot and just a game over .500.
If the defending World Champs are going to be reduced to spoiler status, they might as well take a few bullpens down for the count and make Cespedes angry.
It is more fun that way.
