The umps are not there to make the rules but rather to enforce them. And while I was indeed rooting for the Giants, there was something kind of crappy about the game being tied on a play where the runner was out by a mile.
Then again, the plate blocking rule didn’t score the other 6 runs!
The Giants got a gift. But remember in 2011, they had a much different result for a slide at home with Buster Posey’s injury.
Maybe stars are aligning?
Time to update the Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally.
An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.

A’S DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Jason Vargas dominated the A’s with a complete game 3 hit shutout giving the Royals a 3-0 win.
45 Dodged Bullets 37 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: +8

GIANTS DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
A technicality at home allowed the Giants to tie the score 1-1 in the 7th. The flood gates would open and Jake Peavy would get his first San Francisco win, 7-1 over the White Sox. DODGED BULLET
44 Dodged Bullets 41 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: +3

RED SOX DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Yoenis Cespedes left the game with a hand injury but Mike Napoli put the Red Sox in the win column thanks to his homer that beat Cincinnati, 5-4.
39 Dodged Bullets 48 Teeth Grinders
TOTAL: -9
Let’s score some runs WITHOUT the benefit of a new rule, shall we?
