I saw the A’s were in another tight back and forth game. I saw that it was low scoring. I saw it was going to, inevitably, go down to the final pitch. And I know when I watch A’s games like that recently, THE F—ING LOSE!
So I decided to mix it up.
When it was tied in the 8th inning, I popped in Spider-Man to the DVD player (kids, ask your parents what that is.)
My kids, my wife and I watched the first hour of Spider-Man
The one with Toby Maguire and directed by Sam Raimi. By the time Green Goblin attacked the Times Square celebration and Spidey saved Mary Jane, it was bed time for my kids.
I had no clue what was happening in the A’s game.
My wife and I tucked them in, I checked my phone… and the A’s had won and Sean Doolittle got the save.
As I type this, I still don’t know how they won. They won. It is Binary. You win or you lose.
So I guess for the rest of the pennant race, whenever it gets tight, I need to pop in a Marvel Super Hero movie instead of watching the game. Maybe that is why they made so many!
With great power in a pennant race comes great responsibility.
