3 games.
That is all that separates the Giants from the Dodgers right now. They only have 11 games left, but 3 of them are against LA.
And after tonight’s razor thin 2-1 victory over Arizona, with Peavy pitching great ball and Posey homering, the Giants have a shot to win the series tomorrow afternoon.
Then after that they play the Padres, who stink, the Dodgers and then 4 back in San Francisco against the Padres.
The Dodgers schedule isn’t the hardest in the world either. They play the Cubs and the Rockies along with the Giants.
But if the Giants can move to within 1 or 2 games when that 3 game set in LA begins… it isn’t absurd to think Division… is it?
With the win tonight, the Giants magic number to make the Wild Card is 8.
To host the Wild Card Game, the magic number is 9. They look pretty good to be playing in October.
But the Division is dangling there… like a carrot.
Don’t tease us.
I guess I should update the Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally.
An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.

GIANTS DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Jake Peavy pitched solid ball into the 8th and Brandon Crawford’s sacrifice fly untied the game in the 7th and gave the Giants a 2-1 win in Arizona. DODGED BULLET

A’S DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
A pair of 3 run rallies by the Rangers and the lack of a big inning by the A’s were their undoing in a 6-3 loss at home. TEETH GRINDER

RED SOX DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Dodged Bullets 63 Teeth Grinders 74

The A’s have 12 more games to hang on. Only 3 games will be against winning teams. Is this too much to ask for a winning final dozen?
