SkyDome 1995 – Sully Baseball Daily Photo at Noon for March 3, 2018

in 1995, the Blue Jays were still the last World Champs. They still had Molitor, Carter and Alomar. They still FELT like contenders and the Skydome STILL felt cool. (It wasn’t the Rogers Centre yet.)

The team was on the slide and wouldn’t make the post season for another 20 years.

In my sleep, I saw a clear and specific vision regarding Game 7 of the yet to be played 2018 World Series. Was it a prophecy? Was it a dream? Should I play PowerBall?

The Official Sully Baseball Oscar Predictions

Academy-Awards

It is a proud Sully Baseball tradition… putting aside my baseball obsession for an Oscars obsession.

Now these are the awards that I think WILL happen, not necessarily what I think SHOULD happen.

But as it turns out, I think Get Out is the best picture of the year AND I think it is going to win Best Picture. That doesn’t usually happen.

OK, let’s make some predictions.

BEST PICTURE – Get Out
BEST DIRECTOR – Guillermo del Toro, The Shape of Water
BEST ACTRESS – Frances McDormand, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
BEST ACTOR – Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS – Allison Janney, I Tonya
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR – Willem Dafoe, The Florida Project
BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY – Get Out
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY – Call Me By Your Name
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE – Coco
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY – Blade Runner 2049
BEST COSTUME DESIGN – Phantom Thread
BEST EDITING – Dunkirk
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM – A Fantastic Woman
BEST MAKE UP AND HAIRSTYLING – Darkest Hour
BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN – The Shape of Water
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE – The Shape of Water
BEST ORIGINAL SONG – This is Me, The Greatest Showman
BEST SOUND – Dunkirk
BEST SOUND EDITING – Dunkirk
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS – Blade Runner 2049

And the categories nobody ever knows…

BEST ANIMATED SHORT – Revolting Rhymes
BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE – Face, Places
BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT – Heroin (e)
BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT – DeKalb Elementary

So yeah, I think Get Out will take advantage of the Three Billboards backlash and the inability for some people to vote for a fish sex film. Plus it is a terrific movie.

Willem Dafoe will pull off an upset of Sam Rockwell, whose character is polarizing. And the brilliant cinematographer Roger Deakins, who shot The Shawshank Redemption and most of the Coen Brothers movies, will finally get a long overdue Oscar.

So these are my picks… lets see how they turn out.
