Well… one pennant is won. And the other remains up in the air!
Who owned October on October 17?
Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO (Who Owns October.)
And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.
But the World Series deserves its own stats. WOWS (Who Owns the World Series.)
At the end of the post season, we will see who had the highest WOO total as a pitcher and a hitter. The WOWS total will be kept separately. Each game now counts towards both tallies.
A complete description of the rules can be found HERE.
From October 17, 2020 –
GAME 6 of the NLCS and GAME 7 of the ALCS
Receiving 1 WOO
Randy Arozarena capped off his ALCS MVP performance with a 2 run homer that gave the Rays a lead they would not give up as they topped the Astros for the pennant, 4-2.
Walker Buehler threw 6 shutout innings, striking out 6 Braves, to help the Dodgers tie the NLCS with a 3-1 victory.
Charlie Morton took a shutout into the 6th, finishing with 5 2/3 shutout frames, striking out 6 Astros to earn the 4-2 decision for Tampa Bay.
Corey Seager hit his 5th home run of the series to lead the Dodgers to a 3-1 win over the Braves.
Receiving 1/2 WOO
Carlos Correa drove home the only two runs the Astros would score in the 4-2 elimination loss to Tampa Bay.
Max Fried settled after a rough first inning to pitch into the 7th. He finished with 3 runs in 6 2/3 frames but took the hard luck 3-1 decision for the Braves over the Dodgers.
Dansby Swanson collected 3 hits and stole a base but could not be knocked in as the Braves fell short against the Dodgers, 3-1.
Blake Taylor kept the Rays from padding onto their lead with 1 1/3 shutout innings but the Astros dropped the 4-2 ALCS finale.
