Yoan Moncada is with the Red Sox! I have never seen him play. I don’t know what he looks like. I am not sure I am pronouncing his name correctly. And I don’t care. I love that he is on the Boston Red Sox

The Sully Baseball Official Oscar Picks!

Deadline - Oscars.com

Deadline – Oscars.com

It is a tradition here at Sully Baseball. In fact it is an obsession. I am an Oscar addict and it is time to make my picks. In a decent year for movies, there are a bunch of good pictures to choose from for tomorrow’s show. But if Eddie Redmayne wins for The Theory of Everything over Michael Keaton in Birdman, I will be furious.

So here they are… my official picks. These are the films I THINK will win, not necessarily what I WANT to win.

Actor – Michael Keaton, Birdman
Actress – Julianne Moore, Still Alice
Supporting Actor – J. K. Simmons, Whiplash
Supporting Actress – Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Adapted Screenplay – The Imitation Game
Original Screenplay – The Grand Budapest Hotel

Animated Feature – Big Hero 6
Foreign Language Film – Ida
Cinematography – Birdman
Costume Design – The Grand Budapest Hotel
Film Editing – Boyhood
Make Up – The Grand Budapest Hotel
Original Score – The Theory of Everything
Original Song – Selma (Glory)
Production Design – The Grand Budapest Hotel

Visual Effects – Interstellar

Animated Short – The Dam Keeper

Live Action Short – The Phone Call

Let the record show I am hoping The Grand Budapest Hotel and Whiplash win a lot. But Birdman or Boyhood winning would not upset me. (Selma deserved more love as well.)

OK, enjoy the show and on Monday, there will be more baseball talk.
