Nickerson Field (formerly Braves Field), Boston 2016 – Sully Baseball Daily Photo at Noon for January 16, 2018

The current football stadium at Boston University is called Nickerson Field. You can see it when you drive on Route 90.

From 1915 to 1952, the Braves played there, calling it home the year AFTER they won the stunning 1914 World Series from the favored Philadelphia Athletics.

Babe Ruth called this field home for one season. So did Rogers Hornsby. The Cleveland Indians clinched the 1948 World Series here, to date their last ever title.

This entrance way to the field remains more or less how it was when the Braves called it home.

I visited Nickerson Field on the campus of Boston University. Part of the stadium was the home of the Boston Braves.

At one point this was considered to be one of the crown jewels of baseball. Now it is almost totally forgotten.

It is a remember a forgotten past episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Tyler Duffey, Jose Fernandez, Lonnie Chisenhall, Freddie Freeman, Bartolo Colon, Odubel Herrera and Oswaldo Garcia all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball yesterday.

It is a “Getting WAY ahead of ourselves” episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
