My wife and I discussed double headers and extra innings games. Somehow the TV show Friday Night Lights and the movie Grease 2 made it into the conversation.
It is the kind of exchange you can only hear on The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
Mike Trout, Kyle Blanks, John Danks and Kevin Slowey all owned baseball on June 8, 2013.

Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – June 9, 2013
Rain yesterday forced the Dodgers and Nationals to play a double header today.
Here’s a question:
Seriously. Why did they need to play both games?
The Dodgers are going to San Francisco tonight and let’s face it, neither team are playing this October.
The Nationals are 16 1/2 games out of a playoff spot with 21 games to play.
The Dodgers trail Arizona by 11 1/2 games with 20 left.
Yeah it is POSSIBLE that they could get hot, the Braves and Diamondbacks could collapse and a Nationals vs. Dodgers game could be an NLCS preview.
Is that possibility REALLY worth playing 2 meaningless games in what will no doubt be an empty Nationals Park?
Hey, I love that the Red Sox won the first game today.
I love that they are trying to get these games in NOW instead of filling up the end of the year with a ton of double headers.
I love that the fact that the Yankees need to make up games in September will probably mean a few more A. J. Burnett starts in the back of a double header.
But they got the FIRST game in with a ton of rain delays in front of friends and family.
Why not call it a day and find shelter?
