Who Owned October (#WOO) Tallies Updated for AL Division Series Game 4 and NL Division Series Game 4 – October 12, 2021

 Hyosub Shin/hshin@ajc.com

So much for the Brewers going to the World Series… the Astros and Braves advance and the Giants and Dodgers prepare for a showdown.

Who owned October on October 12?

Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO(Who Owns October.)

And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.

But the World Series deserves its own stats. WOWS (Who Owns the World Series.)

At the end of the post season, we will see who had the highest WOO total as a pitcher and a hitter. The WOWS total will be kept separately. Each game now counts towards both tallies.

A complete description of the rules can be found HERE.

From October 12, 2021 –

AL DIVISION SERIES GAME 4 and NL DIVISION SERIES GAME 4

Receiving 1 WOO

Jose Altuve scored 4 times with his 3 hits, including a homer, and a stolen base as the Astros cruised to a 10-1 final over the White Sox.

Mookie Betts kept the Dodgers hopes to repeat alive with a pair of hits including a home run with 3 RBI to clobber the Giants, 7-2.

Walker Buehler pitched on short rest into the 5th, allowing 1 run in 4 1/3 innings as the Dodgers stayed alive against the Giants, 7-2.

Freddie Freeman collected 3 hits including a dramatic tie breaking home run that helped the Braves clinch against Milwaukee, 5-4.

Phil Maton gave the Astros 1 2/3 key shutout innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 2 White Sox batters to help secure the 10-1 win.

A. J. Minter stopped the bleeding by holding the Brewers scoreless for 1 1/3 innings, retiring all 4 batters he faced, 3 by strikeouts, setting up the Braves 5-4 come from behind win.

Receiving 1/2 WOO

Kris Bryant got on base 3 times but the Giants were stomped by the Dodgers, 7-2.

Aaron Bummer did his job, throwing 1 1 1/3 innings and charged with no runs but but it was too little and too late as the White Sox were clobbered by the Astros, 10-1.

Zack Littell struck out 4 Dodgers over 2 shutout innings in relief in the Giants 7-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Gavin Sheets provided the White Sox with all of their offense by homering and adding a second hit in the 10-1 beating by Houston.

Rowdy Tellez hit his second 2 run homer of the series but the Brewers were sent home by Atlanta, 5-4.

Brandon Woodruff came out of the bullpen to get 1 1/3 scoreless innings but the Brewers would fall and be sent home by the Braves, 5-4.
