Who Owned October (#WOO) – Tallies Updated for ALDS Game 1 – October 7, 2021

Dick Shadd – TampaBay.com

The Division Series have begun in the American League and the home teams have held serve.

Who owned October on October 7?

Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO(Who Owns October.)

And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.

But the World Series deserves its own stats. WOWS (Who Owns the World Series.)

At the end of the post season, we will see who had the highest WOO total as a pitcher and a hitter. The WOWS total will be kept separately. Each game now counts towards both tallies.

A complete description of the rules can be found HERE.

From October 7, 2021 –

AL DIVISION SERIES GAME 1

Receiving 1 WOO

Yordan Alvarez reached base 3 times, including a double and a homer, driving in 2, to lead Houston past the White Sox, 6-1.

Randy Arozarena homered, walked twice and scored 3 times including a steal of home as the Red Sox blanked the Rays, 5-0.

Shane McClanahan tossed 5 innings, scattering 5 hits to help the Rays shutout the Red Sox, 5-0.

Lance McCullers Jr. pitched shutout ball into the 7th, finishing with 4 hits and no runs over 6 2/3 innings striking out 4 White Sox to earn the 6-1 decision for Houston.

Receiving 1/2 WOO

Jose Abreu went 2 for 4 with an RBI but the White Sox fell to Houston, 6-1.

Nick Pivetta saved the Red Sox bullpen with 4 2/3 innings and 4 strikeouts in the Rays 5-0 win.

Jose Ruiz recorded 4 outs out of the bullpen without giving up a hit or run but the White Sox lost 6-1 to the Astros.

Kyle Schwarber collected 2 hits and stole a base but the Red Sox dropped the 5-0 game to Tampa Bay.
