Who Owned October (WOO) – Updated for October 11, 2022

Brett Davis – USA Today

The opening game of the Division Series had some great pitching performances, an all time dramatic homer and the Phillies stunning the champs thanks to a one man wrecking crew.

Who owned October on October 11?

Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO(Who Owns October.)

And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.

But the World Series deserves its own stats. WOWS (Who Owns the World Series.)

At the end of the post season, we will see who had the highest WOO total as a pitcher and a hitter. The WOWS total will be kept separately. Each game now counts towards both tallies.

A complete description of the rules can be found HERE.

From October 11, 2022 –

AL and NL DIVISION SERIES GAME 1

Receiving 1 WOO

Bryan Abreu stopped the bleeding by shutting out the Mariners for 1 2/3 innings, striking out 3, to set up the Astros come from behind 8-7 win.

Yordan Alvarez hit one of the most dramatic postseason homers in history with 2 out, come from behind, walk off 3 run shot, his third hit of the day, as the Astros stunned Seattle, 8-7.

Nick Castellanos drove in 3 runs and scored another, making a highlight reel catch as well, to help the Phillies take the 7-6 opener from defending champion Atlanta.

Gerrit Cole pitched into the 7th, striking out 9 Guardians in 6 1/3 innings, to earn the 4-1 decision for the Yankees.

Seranthony Dominguez tossed 2 shutout frames in the Phillies 7-6 victory over Atlanta.

Julio Urias fanned 6 Padres in 5 innings to pick up the 5-3 Dodgers win.

Trea Turner homered in the first and added another hit, scoring another run, to help the Dodgers top San Diego, 5-3.

Receiving 1/2 WOO

Pierce Johnson tossed 2 scoreless frames out of the bullpen in the Padres 5-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Steven Kwan homered and singled but Cleveland fell to the Yankees, 4-1.

Wil Myers homered in the Padres 5-3 defeat to Los Angeles.
