Let’s see owned baseball on June 9, 2019

Earning Full WOBs:

Matt Joyce doubled twice, walked twice and drove in the go ahead run in the 12th inning for the Braves 7-6 victory in Miami.

Brandon Lowe homered twice and singled, scoring 3 and driving in 3 as the Rays won in Boston, 6-1.

Jake Odorizzi struck out 8 Tigers in 6 innings, allowing 1 run as the Twins took the 12-2 blowout.

Noah Syndergaard allowed 1 hit and struck out 7 Rockies over 7 shutout innings to earn the 6-1 decision for the Mets.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Madison Bumgarner gave up 1 run over 7 innings, striking out 5 Dodgers. But that one run was too many as the Giants were blanked, 1-0.

Asdrubal Cabrera singled, doubled and homered but the Rangers wild comeback against the A’s fell one run short, 9-8.

Austin Dean got 3 hits, including a homer, driving in 3, but the Marlins lost 7-6 in 12 innings to Atlanta.

Peter Fairbanks stopped the bleeding with 2 perfect innings of relief, striking out 3 Oakland batters in his Major League debut. The Rangers dropped the 9-8 slug fest.

Worst home run swing I’ve ever seen

David Robertson has the “Oh Holy Crap, please tell me I didn’t let up a 2 out, 2 strike go ahead home run in the 9th inning” face. You know, the face Mariano Rivera never developed.

Meanwhile, doing his part to put a dagger in the heart of New York fans and the seed of doubt in David Robertson’s mind, Matt Joyce did the exact OPPOSITE of Reggie Jackson or Manny Ramirez styling at home plate.

When you smash a 9th inning game winning home run in Yankee Stadium, try not to collapse into a heap.
