Let’s see owned baseball on April 3, 2019

Earning Full WOBs:

Jacob deGrom dominated Miami in every possible way. He threw 7 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 14 Marlins along the way. Then at the plate, he homered, slugging and pitching the Mets to a 6-4 decision.

Randal Grichuk hit a pair of homers and added a double to help the Blue Jays top Baltimore, 5-3.

Matt Shoemaker struck out 8 Orioles over 7 innings of 2 hits, 1 walk shutout ball, earning the 5-3 victory in Toronto.

Juan Soto reached base 4 times, including a homer, driving in 3 and scoring 2 in Washington’s wild 9-8 walk off win over the Phillies.

 

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Luis Castillo threw 7 strong innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 run and striking out 9 Brewers. But he took the hard luck 1-0 loss for the Reds.

Adam Frazier collected 3 hits, including 2 doubles, stole a base and drove in a run in the Pirates 5-4 extra inning loss to St. Louis.

Alex Gordon singled, doubled and walked, driving in 4, but the Twins came from behind to top Kansas City in the 9th, 7-6.

Charlie Morton blanked the Rockies over 6 innings, allowing 4 hits while striking out 6. The Rays bats were also silenced and Colorado would take the 1-0 game in 11.

Earning Full WOBs:

Paul Goldschmidt homered 3 times, added a single and walk, driving in 5, leading the Cardinals to a 9-5 victory in Milwaukee.

German Márquez struck out 7 Marlins in 6 innings, holding them to 2 hits, 3 walks and 1 run as the Rockies took the 6-1 final.

Matt Shoemaker shutout Toronto over his 7 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 7 to earn the 6-0 decision for Detroit.

Mike Trout reached base 3 times, including a key 2 run double, as the Angels rallied late to win 6-2 over the A’s.

 

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Marco Estrada blanked the Angels over 6 innings, scattering 2 hits and 2 walks. The A’s bullpen would blow their lead and lose the 6-2 game.

A. J. Pollock got on base 5 times, including a homer, with 3 RBI, but the Dodgers dropped the 5-4 final to Arizona in 13 innings.

Trevor Richards allowed 1 run and 4 hits, striking out 4 Rockies over 6 strong innings. He would not get the decision as the Marlins were beaten, 6-1.

Domingo Santana singled, homered and walked twice. However his Mariners suffered their first loss of the year as the Red Sox rallied in the 9th, 7-6.
