WHO OWNED OCTOBER (#WOO) – TALLIES UPDATED FOR NL DIVISION SERIES GAME 1 and AL DIVISION SERIES GAME 2, October 6 , 2020

MLB Network

The A’s and Marlins stumbled. The Astros, Braves and Dodgers brought the lumber. The Rays held on and the Padres had dreams of a no hitter.

Who owned October on October 6?

Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO(Who Owns October.)

And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.

But the World Series deserves its own stats. WOWS (Who Owns the World Series.)

At the end of the post season, we will see who had the highest WOO total as a pitcher and a hitter. The WOWS total will be kept separately. Each game now counts towards both tallies.

A complete description of the rules can be found HERE.

From October 6, 2020 –

GAME 1 of the NL DIVISION SERIES and GAME 2 of the AL DIVISION SERIES

Receiving 1 WOO

Nick Anderson struck out the side with the tying run at the plate and finished with 2 scoreless innings to preserve the Rays 7-5 score over the Yankees.

Travis d’Arnaud reached base 5 times, including a go ahead 3 run homer, drove in 4 runs and sparked the Braves in their 9-5 come from behind win against Miami.

Tyler Matzek struck out all 3 batters he faced in the Braves 9-5 victory against the Marlins.

Dustin May recorded 3 strikeouts of San Diego batters in 2 innings to earn the 5-1 decision for the Dodgers.

George Springer homered twice in the Astros 5-2 win over the A’s.

Justin Turner got on base 3 times, scored a run and drove in a run to help the Dodgers top the Padres, 5-1.

Framber Valdez threw 7 strong innings, allowing 2 runs to earn the 5-2 decision for the Astros over the A’s.

Joey Wendle reached base 3 times, scoring twice, to help the Rays beat the Yankees, 7-5.

Receiving 1/2 WOO

Sandy Alcantara had the lead going into the 7th, striking out 8 Braves in 6 plus innings. But the Marlins bullpen fell apart in the 9-5 final.

Brian Anderson got 3 hits, drove in a run and scored one in the Marlins 9-5 loss to Atlanta.

Khris Davis singled and homered in the A’s 5-2 loss to the Astros.

Mike Minor did not allow a hit or a run in 2 solid innings of relief but the A’s fell short to Houston, 5-2.

Nick Nelson kept the Rays off the board with a scoreless 8th, striking out 2. The Yankees could not take advantage of it and dropped the 7-5 final.

Austin Nola reached base twice and drove in the Padres only run in their 5-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Giancarlo Stanton homered twice but the Yankees comeback was not enough as the Rays took the 7-5 final.

Ryan Weathers made his big league debut in the postseason and threw 1 1/3 hitless and scoreless innings. The Padres dropped the 5-1 game to the Dodgers.

Baseball For Lunch -Locked On MLB – May 23, 2019

C77EA6B4-C0DC-4237-AC0A-8CD0B4B855C6

There is a nearly full slate of games starting before noon, Pacific Daylight Time. Nothing is better than being a baseball fan on the west coast. I am going to be watching baseball for lunch!

The historically bad Marlins have almost caught the supposedly contending Nationals, and not because Miami has thoughts of winning the East.

The Yankees do not have a single player healthy on their squad and still can not lose. And Mike Minor somehow is a Cy Young Contender.

This is the LockedOn MLB Podcast with your host Paul Francis Sullivan. Please call me Sully.
