Adam Duvall launched 3 homers, driving in 5, to lead the Braves past the Red Sox, 7-5.

Triston McKenzie threw 6 shutout innings, striking out 6 to help the Indians blank the Royals, 5-0.

Tyler Naquin homered twice and added a single in the Indians 5-0 victory over Kansas City.

Zack Wheeler pitched into the 7th, allowing no runs and striking out 6 Nationals in 6 2/3 innings to earn the 3-0 decision for the Phillies.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Kolby Allard threw 7 strong innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs, striking out 4 Astros, but took the hard luck 2-1 loss for the Rangers.

Zac Gallen held the mighty Dodgers to 1 hit and no runs over 7 innings. The Diamondbacks bullpen would drop the 3-2 final.

Mike Trout homered and singled but the Angels were thumped by San Diego, 11-4.

Mike Yastrzemski went 3 for 5 with a homer in the Giants 5-3 loss to Colorado.

Earning Full WOBs:

DJ LeMahieu went 4 for 5 with a homer to give the Yankees an easy 9-3 win against Baltimore.

Lance Lynn allowed 1 hit and 2 walks in 6 shutout innings, striking out 8 Diamondbacks, to set  up the 7-4 victory for Texas.

Max Scherzer pitched shutout ball into the 8th, finishing with 7 1/3 innings, no runs and 10 strikeouts. The Nationals would top the Blue Jays, 4-0, in extra innings.

Mike Yastrzemski hit a massive walk off homer into the Bay, his second homer of the game and third hit, to lead the Giants past San Diego, 7-6.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Brian Goodwin doubled and homered in the Angels 10-7 loss to Seattle.

Trent Grisham got on base 3 times, including a homer, driving in 3. But the Padres bullpen collapsed handing the 7-6 game to San Francisco.

Nate Pearson kept the Nationals off the board with 5 scoreless innings. The Blue Jays bullpen would not fare as well in the 4-0 defeat.

Zach Plesac struck out 11 White Sox over 8 shutout frames. He did not fare in the decision as the Indians dropped the 4-0 game in extra innings.

Let’s see owned baseball on August 21, 2019

Earning Full WOBs:

Nicholas Castellanos led a strong Cubs offense with 4 hits, including a homer in the 12-11 slug fest over the Giants.

Patrick Corbin gave the Nationals 8 strong innings, allowing no runs and striking out 4 in the 11-1 pounding of the Pirates.

Lucas Giolito threw a complete game shutout, allowing 3 hits while striking out 12 as the White Sox blanked the Twins, 4-0.

Kevin Kiermaier went 2 for 4 with a stolen base, 4 RBI and a game tying 9th inning homer as the Rays walked off against the Mariners, 8-7.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Robinson Chirinos got 4 hits, including a homer in the Astros 2-1 loss to Detroit.

Junior Fernández gave the Cardinals 2 key innings of no hit shutout relief and a chance to come back against Milwaukee. They would fall short, 5-3.

Justin Verlander tossed a complete game, striking out 11 and allowing only 2 hits. But the Astros were edged by the Tigers, 2-1.

Mike Yastrzemski got 3 hits, including a homer and a double, and several key defensive plays but the Giants dropped a wild and heart breaking 12-11 game to the Cubs.
