EARNING FULL WOB’s

Michael Conforto hit 2 key home runs and added another hit, scoring 3 runs as the Mets held on to a wild and strange 15-11 slugfest victory in Cincinnati.

Enrique Hernandez reached base 4 times, homering twice, and drove in 3 runs to help the Red Sox bomb the Blue Jays, 13-4.

Cole Irvin worked out of several jams to keep the Angels off the board for 7 strong innings, allowing no runs while striking out 3, earning the 4-1 victory for Oakland.

Jon Lester threw 7 shutout innings, striking out 7 Marlins and added a home run of his own to earn the 18-1 decision for the Nationals.

EARNING 1/2 WOB’s

Mitch Garver homered twice but the White Sox walked off against his Twins in the 5-3 double header nightcap.

Tyler Naquin collected 5 hits and drove in 4 but the Reds were outslugged by the Mets in a bizarre 15-11 extra inning marathon.

Shohei Ohtani threw 6 shutout innings, striking out 8 Oakland batters and added a double of his own. But the Angels bullpen would drop the 4-1 game.

Alex Vesia kept the Giants off the board with a pair of shutout innings in relief but the Dodgers could not rally and lost 7-2.

Who Owned October (#WOO) – Tallies Updated For AL Division Series Game 2, October 5, 2019

The Astros got another dominating performance from an ace as both American League Division Series look lopsided.

Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO(Who Owns October.)

And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.

But the World Series deserves its own stats. WOWS (Who Owns the World Series.)

At the end of the post season, we will see who had the highest WOO total as a pitcher and a hitter. The WOWS total will be kept separately. Each game now counts towards both tallies.

2019 AL Division Series Game 2:

Receiving 1 WOO

Alex Bregman homered and singled, scoring twice in the Astros 3-1 victory over the Rays.

Gerrit Cole pitched shutout ball into the 8th, finishing with an eye popping 15 strikeouts against 4 hits and 1 walk and no runs as the Astros hung on against Tampa Bay, 3-1.

Didi Gregorius reached base 3 times and launched a grand slam in the third inning that helped give the Yankees 8-2 final over the Twins

Masahiro Tanaka struck out 7 Twins in 5 strong innings, allowing 1 run to earn the 8-2 decision for the Yankees.

 

Receiving 1/2 WOO

Diego Castillo pitched out of trouble in 1 2/3 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 run as the Rays dropped the 3-1 final to the Astros.

Mitch Garver doubled twice in the Twins 8-2 loss to the Yankees.

Austin Meadows singled and scored the Rays only run in their 3-1 defeat in Houston.

Devin Smeltzer stopped the bleeding with 3 1/3 shutout innings, striking out 4 Yankees, but the Twins were clobbered 8-2.

Let’s see owned baseball on July 22, 2019

Earning Full WOBs:

Mitch Garver homered twice and singled as the Twins held on to top the Yankees, 8-6.

Sonny Gray held the Brewers to 1 run over 6 innings. He did not get the decision but helped set up the Reds dramatic 6-5 win.

Ivan Nova threw a complete game victory, allowing 1 run while striking out 5 Marlins en route to a 9-1 final for the White Sox.

Eugenio Suárez hit 2 homers including a clutch 2 out, 2 run come from behind shot that put the Reds ahead of Milwaukee for good, 6-5.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Branden Kline gave the Orioles 2 1/3 shutout innings out of the bullpen to help stop the bleeding. But the Diamondbacks would double them up, 6-3.

D. J. LeMahieu reached base 4 times, including a homer, in the Yankees 8-6 loss in Minnesota.

Tyler Saladino launched a go ahead grand slam and even stole a base but the Brewers collapsed in the 9th, allowing the Reds to take the 6-5 final

Trevor Williams struck out 7 Cardinals in 5 innings, allowing a single run. The Pirates bullpen could not hold down the game and lost the wild 6-5 final in 10.
