Matt Carpenter homered, doubled and walked but the Cardinals bullpen blew the 5-4 game in Milwaukee.

Jon Gray pitched into the 7th, striking out 10 Marlins and walking only 1 in 6 2/3 innings. He would take the hard luck 3-0 decision for the Rockies.

Trent Thornton retired 15 of 17 batters he faced in his big league debut, striking out 8 Tigers over 5 shutout innings. He did not factor in the decision as the Blue Jays dropped the 4-3 game in 11 innings.
