Let’s see owned baseball on July 6, 2019

Earning Full WOBs:

Shane Bieber threw 8 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs while fanning 8 Reds to give the Indians a 7-2 victory.

Kevin Newman went 4 for 5 with a homer and 3 RBI to help the Pirates clobber the Brewers, 12-2.

Roberto Perez collected 4 hits, including a home run, driving in 2 as the Indians topped the Reds, 7-2.

Max Scherzer struck out 11 in 7 shutout innings, allowing 4 hits and even stole a base as the Nationals blanked the Royals, 6-0.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Jeimer Candelario homered twice, driving in 3, but the Tigers multiple comeback bids against Boston came up short in the 10-6 final.

Kenta Maeda pitched into the 8th, finishing with 7 2/3 innings, 4 hits and 3 runs, striking out 6 Padres. He would take the hard luck 3-1 decision for the Dodgers.

Yasiel Puig went 3 for 4 with a homer in the Reds 7-2 loss to the Indians.

CC Sabathia struck out 5 Rays in 7 solid innings. He would not factor into the decision as the Yankees dropped the 4-3 game in the 9th.

Earning Full WOBs:

Josh Bell reached base 5 times, with a double and homer, scoring 3 runs and driving in 5 to help Pittsburgh come from behind to beat St. Louis 10-6.

Hyun-Jim Ryu took a no hitter into the 8th, finishing with 8 shutout frames with 1 hit, 1 walk and striking out 9 as the Dodgers blanked the Nationals, 6-0.

George Springer went 5 for 5 with 2 homers, 5 runs scored and 4 RBI as the blazing hot Astros clobbered the Rangers, 15-5.

Masahiro Tanaka threw 7 innings, walking no Tampa Bay batter while striking out 7 and earning the 7-1 decision for the Yankees.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Yasiel Puig homered and walked in the Reds 6-5 defeat by the Giants.

Blake Snell struck out 12 Yankees in 5 2/3 innings but the Rays fell 7-1.

Stephen Strasburg threw 6 strong innings, striking out 7 Dodgers and allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. He would be saddled with the hard luck 6-0 decision for the Nationals.

Mike Trout reached base 3 times including a homer in the Angels 5-1 loss to Baltimore.
