Candlestick Park was rarely packed. But this 1990 game between the Dodgers and the Giants brought out everyone. And clearly, the policy at the Stick was “No Shirt, No Shoes, NO PROBLEM!”

My dad, my buddy Greg Lee and I went to a game at Candlestick in August of 1992. You can tell it was August at the Stick because I am wearing a ski jacket and mittens.

The game between the Giants and Cubs was over but Greg and I wanted to stay until someone told us to leave. We thought the Giants were moving to Tampa Bay and we wanted to savor the team in San Francisco.

Can you imagine that? Leaving San Francisco to lay down roots in Tampa Bay.

It almost happened.

Good thing that cop was there preventing us from getting into trouble.

My dad took this picture.

Piece by piece, Candlestick was dismantled after the Giants and 49ers bid it good bye.

I drove by one day. Some of the stands and the upper deck near the third base dugout remained. Soon they would come down too.
