Harrison Bader singled and homered in the Cardinals 8-5 double header opener win over the Cubs. Then in the night cap he helped extend St. Louis’ winning streak to 14 by going 3 or 4 with a home run and a pair of RBI in the 12-4 drubbing.

Max Fried gave the slumping Braves a much needed boost with a complete game 3 hit shutout, striking out 4 and earning the 4-0 blanking of San Diego.

Frankie Montas gave the A’s slim Octoer chances some hope by striking out 8 Astros in 7 innings in the 14-2 laugher.

Giancarlo Stanton brought the Yankees a little bit closer to a playoff clinch by homering twice, adding another hit and driving in 4 as the Yankees made quick work of the Red Sox, 8-3.
