OK, I will admit that the last few weeks have not been good for the A’s.
They now trail the Angels by 1 1/2 games and the whole “best team in baseball” for most of the season will go down the toilet if the entire year rests on a one game playoff against David Price or Felix Hernandez.
Yeah, they should have scored more runs against the Mets yesterday. Yeah there is something not right with the offense. And it is easy to say “Blame the Jon Lester trade!”
But there are always ebbs and flows, ups and downs to a baseball season. Would you rather see them hit this slump in August or October?
Besides, with 6 head to head games in the next few weeks against the Angels, there is some ground to make up.
Relax. Have some individual sized Round Table Pizzas and throw Stomper some peanuts. The A’s will figure this out.
Meanwhile the Giants got a reprieve from a previous teeth grinder and the Red Sox find new ways to lose.
Time to update the Dodged Bullet/Teeth Grinder tally.
An explanation of what this is all about can be found HERE.
A’S DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
A 5 run 3rd from the Mets put the A’s in a hole. Oakland only scratched one run in an 8th inning where the bases were loaded and only 1 out as the Mets held on, 8-5. TEETH GRINDER
46 Dodged Bullets 41 Teeth Grinders
GIANTS DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
The rain shortened game caused in part by the faulty tarp gets to be finished and a teeth grinder is removed from the board.
46 Dodged Bullets 42 Teeth Grinders
RED SOX DODGED BULLET – TEETH GRINDER Tally
Garret Richards left the game with an injury and Clay Buchholz was given an early 3-0 lead. He could not hold it as the Angels scored 8 unanswered runs and won 8-3. TEETH GRINDER
41 Dodged Bullets 52 Teeth Grinders
Will the Giants turn a teeth grinder into a dodged bullet? We shall see!
